With only forty seats and twelve items on the menu, Joe Tortorice opened the first Jason’s Deli in Beaumont, TX, on November 30, 1976. The first year it was open, Joe would work at the deli during lunch, nights and weekends while maintaining a full time job for the State of Texas. When Joe was not at the deli, his wife, parents and grandparents were there taking car of business. Three years after the opening of the first store, Joe opened the second unit in Port Arthur, Texas and “took the town by storm.”

The 1980s saw growth and expansion at Jason’s Deli with the addition of stores in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Tyler, Texas. It also saw the addition of three business partners, Rusty Coco, Pete Verde and Pat Broussard. In 1986 the owners incorporated to form Deli Management, Inc (DMI) and our first franchise location opened in Tucson, Arizona. During the past seven years, Jason’s Deli has gone from being a small, local company to a solid corporation growing at a rate of 10-12 stores per year. This decade, we have opened units in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Texas, Oklahoma; Arkansas; Louisiana; Florida; Georgia; Alabama; North and South Carolina; Nevada; Arizona; Colorado; Virginia; and Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Jason's Deli management Structure is set up as follows:

General Manager: The GM supervises the operation of a single unit. They are responsible for the training, coaching and development of the Assistant Managers as well as developing a strong and satisfied customer base through marketing and advertising. Salary Range: $55K – $80K

Assistant Managers: The Assistant Managers positions are divided into two levels. The First Assistant Store Manager is involved in staffing, training, employee development, administration, and managing food and labor costs. The Second Assistant Store Manager is given direct responsibility for producing and maintaining the production line along with the everyday responsibility of running shifts. Salary Range: $32- $50K

Catering Managers A large part of our business each day is focused on Catering, Carryout and To-Go! The Catering Manager works hand in hand with our clients and the GM to develop business to business relationships, coordinating and managing deliveries and growing the catering segment of our business. Salary Range: $32K – $40K
